I love experimenting with color and this time of year is perfect to try out new pinks and reds!
I have always loved makeup. It’s a way to express myself and my creativity instead of a way to cover up my insecurities. When it comes to makeup, THE EYES HAVE IT. Whether they’re dramatic or muted, they are the first thing that people notice. My weekends always consist of spending time with friends and one of our favorite past times includes applying makeup. Here are some tips to achieve the perfect look.
Step 1: Fill in your eyebrow with a neutral brown color or brow pencil using soft hairlike strokes to mimic real brow hairs.
Step 2: Use a small amount of concealer or a light eyeshadow primer and tap it lightly onto your eyelid until it is blended evenly all over. For the concealer, I love the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer and for a great eyeshadow primer, I love the Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion in Original.
Step 3: Then I used the Kylie Cosmetics Sipping Pretty Eyeshadow Palette and picked up the shade “Check ID” using a tapered Morphe M433 blending brush and applied it into my crease using light windshield wiper motions. In addition, in order to elongate the eye and give it a winged effect, begin to sweep what is left on your brush towards the tail of your eyebrow.
Step 4: Then, once you have concentrated most of the color into the crease and is off your brush, gently sweep what is leftover on your brush onto the rest of your lid down towards your lash line.
Step 5: Next, on a flat concealer brush (similar to the Morphe E57) pick up the shade “21+” and tap it across the lid. (Optional: Once the shade is on your brush, apply setting spray in order to exaggerate this shimmer on the eyes and create a “wet look” (I love the Mac Prep + Prime Fix+ Spray in Original for this step)
Step 6: For eyeliner, I used the NARS Powermatte Lip Pigment in the shade “Geranium.” Use a precise and angled eyeliner brush (like the Morphe M160 1/8) and pick up some of the lipstick from the wand. Then, I always look straight ahead when making the wing and begin by making a small line going from the outer corner of my eye towards the tail of my eyebrow. Once I have this line, I connect the top of the line that we just made to my lash line. Then, I fill in the wing the rest of the wing. I also decided to take the red all the way to the inner corner of my eye and underneath my eye on my lower lash line and connect it to the top line.
Step 7: After, I use concealer under the wing to make it the straightest and sharpest it can be. I love a wing because it really gives the appearance of a more lifted face and eyes!
Step 8: After, I use a small detail brush like the Morphe M321 and pick up some of my favorite highlighters recently, Cookie from Benefit Cosmetics. I place this in my inner corner to open up my eyes and right on my brow bone, right beneath the arch of my eyebrow and above where we place the very first crease shade “Check ID,” to add more dimension.
Step 9: After curling your lashes, apply a coat of black mascara to your top and bottom lashes. For this look, I used the Mac Cosmetics Extended Play Gigablack Lash Mascara because the small wand ensures no clumping.
Step 10: Finally, gently spray your face with setting spray so your look lasts all day! (I love the Morphe Prep and Set Continuous Setting Mist).
