When I heard my family was going to Washington, D.C. for my spring break I was beyond excited! Since my first trip to our nation’s capitol in 7th grade, I’ve been wanting to return. While most kids find seeing monuments and visiting museums boring, I found learning about the history of our country fun!
Heads Up 😉 … Touring D.C. during the day is amazing, but seeing the monuments at night is unlike anything else!
The Lincoln Memorial
When we approached the Lincoln Memorial, I wasn’t prepared for its massive size and the impact it would have on me. As I read the Gettysburg Address inscribed on the walls, I was forced to think about the history behind the monument and the legacy of President Lincoln. If you have the opportunity to see the Lincoln Memorial at night, while it is all lit up, take it!
The Washington Monument
When you turn around at the Lincoln Memorial, the Washington Monument is right there. You can’t miss it! I love the reflecting pool, as well.
I didn’t have time to see all my favorites in D.C. but, make sure to visit as many monuments and museums as you can while your there!
Georgetown
Georgetown is small town with a lot happening. Trust me, it takes a full day to take it all in whether it’s shopping, eating or simply walking down the street! I loved it!
Personal Tips!
- Pack an umbrella because you never know when it may rain!
2. Wear comfortable shoes!!!! You will want to walk everywhere to really see the city and all the monuments and museums.
Thanks for exploring D.C. with me 🙂
