Brown + Blue

I have always loved makeup. It’s a way to express myself and my creativity instead of a way to cover up my insecurities. When it comes to makeup, THE EYES HAVE IT. Whether they’re dramatic or muted, they are the first thing that people notice. My weekends always consist of spending time with friends and one of our favorite past times includes applying makeup. Here are some tips to achieve the perfect look.

Neutral looks are my favorite, but sometimes it’s fun to add a pop of color. For this look, I used both The Master Palette by Mario from Anastasia Beverly Hills and the KKW Beauty X Mario Eyeshadow Palette for the eyes, The Anastasia Brow Wiz in the shade “soft brown” to fill in my brows, The Marc Jacobs Beauty Highliner Gel Eye Crayon Eyeliner in the shade “Earthquake,” and then applied the Diorshow Mascara in the color black to emphasize my eyelashes.

Step 1: Fill in your eyebrow with a neutral brown color or brow pencil using soft hairlike strokes to mimic real brow hairs.

Step 2: Use a small amount of concealer or a light eyeshadow primer and tap it lightly onto your eyelid until it is blended evenly all over. For the concealer I love the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer and for a great eyeshadow primer I love the Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion in Original.

Step 3: Using a large buffing brush (something similar to the Morphe M441 blending brush) lightly dust the shade “Lula,” in the bottom left corner of the palette, into your crease to lay down a nice transition color for the following colors.

Step 4: Pick up the shimmery gold color “5th Avenue,” in the lower right side of the palette, on a smaller blending brush with a rounder top (I love the Morphe M332 Fluffy Crease Brush) and lightly dust it all over your lid.

Step 5: Now using the KKW X Mario Eyeshadow Palette, dip into the electric blue shade “Libra,” in the bottom row of the palette on the right side, on a flat paddle brush (similar to the Morphe E10) and tap the color gently in the inner corner of your eye to add a beautiful pop of color. And, because this color has shimmer, as well, it really draws attention to your eyes!

Step 6: Back in The Master Palette by Mario from Anastasia Beverly Hills take the shade “Lula” on a small and precise blending brush (like the Morphe M431) and lightly sweep the color along your lower lash line to create a shadow for your lower mascara.

Step 7: Now apply a straight, thin line of a dark brown liner (I love The Marc Jacobs Beauty Highliner Gel Eye Crayon Eyeliner in the shade “Earthquake”). Using a dark brown liner will darken the look, but not as dark as a black liner would. (Optional: you can also add this liner onto your lower water line to further deepen the look).

Step 8: On a small detail brush (similar to the Morphe M210) use the shade “5th Avenue,” again, in The Master Palette by Mario from Anastasia Beverly Hills and place it directly in the inner corner of your eye in order to open up the eyes.

Step 9: After curling your lashes, apply a coat of black mascara to your top and bottom lashes (I recommend the Diorshow Mascara in Black).

Step 10: Finally, gently spray your face with setting spray so your look lasts all day! (I love the Morphe Prep and Set Continuous Setting Mist).
