I have always loved makeup. It’s a way to express myself and my creativity instead of a way to cover up my insecurities. When it comes to makeup, THE EYES HAVE IT. Whether they’re dramatic or muted, they are the first thing that people notice. My weekends always consist of spending time with friends and one of our favorite past times includes applying makeup. Here are some tips to achieve the perfect look.
My friend and I were experimenting with makeup one night and this was the final product. It was so unexpected and so fun to do. I never use these bold colors, but my friend encouraged me to try something new and I’m so happy she did. I think this is my best yet and it was really exciting to see what we came up with!
I did this look using 3 different eyeshadow palettes: the Kylie Cosmetics Sipping Pretty, the Jaclyn Hill Palette, and the KKW Beauty X Mario palette. I also used the Anastasia Brow Wiz in the shade “soft brown” to fill in my brows and then applied the Diorshow Mascara in the color black to emphasize my eyelashes.
Step 1: Fill in your eyebrow with a neutral brown color or brow pencil using soft hairlike strokes to mimic real brow hairs.
Step 2: Use a small amount of concealer or a light eyeshadow primer and tap it lightly onto your eyelid until it is blended evenly all over. For the concealer I love the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer and for a great eyeshadow primer I love the Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion in Original.
Step 3: In the Jaclyn Hill Palette, take the shade “Silk Crème,” which is the 3rd color in the top row of the palette, on a large blending brush (something similar to the Morphe M441 blending brush). Lightly dust this color through your crease and over your lid to set your concealer and create a transition shade for the following colors.
Step 4: Next, take the shimmery purple shade “Royalty,” in the second to last row of the Jaclyn Hill Palette, on a tapered blending brush (something like the Morphe M433 blending brush). First, tap this color into your crease to avoid patchiness, since it is a shimmer shade and not a matte one. Then, lightly buff the color out using windshield wiper motions, from inner to outer corner of your eye. It is totally up to you have blown out you want to make this look; I chose to blend the edges out into the front of the brow and out towards the tail of the brow. (Optional: in order to create a cat-eye affect when blending, flick the brush up using a short motion at the outer corner.)
Step 5: Now, using the KKW Beauty X Mario palette, use a flat concealer brush (similar to the Morphe E57) to pick up the electric blue shade “Libra.” (Optional: Once the shade is on your brush, apply setting spray in order to exaggerate this shimmer on the eyes and create a “wet look” (I love the Mac Prep + Prime Fix+ Spray in Original for this step). From there, pat the brush onto your lid, making sure not to cover the purple we previously applied.
Step 6: To make sure there are no harsh edges, take a clean blending brush (something like the Morphe M433 blending brush) and blend the part of your crease where the purple and blue colors meet, using a very light hand.
Step 7: Moving into the Kylie Cosmetics Sipping Pretty palette, take a small detail brush (similar to the Morphe M210) and pick up the bright magenta color “Pretty.” Sweep this color, tightly, along your lower lash line using small, steady motions.
Step 8: Going back to the KKW Beauty X Mario palette, take the shade “2008” on your ring finger and lightly tap it on the center of your lid only to create a 3-D effect.
Step 9: Taking another, clean, small detail brush (similar to the Morphe M210) take the same shade, “2008,” and place it in your inner corner to open up the eyes.
Step 10: One of the last steps is to take a precise and angled eyeliner brush (like the Morphe E11) and pick up the dark black shade in the Kylie Cosmetics Sipping Pretty palette called “Black Out.” Starting in your inner corner begin to stamp the brush onto your upper lash line. Continue to stamp until you get to the outer corner of your eye. After stamping out a guide, pick up more of the same shade and “drag” or “paint” along the line you just made. To create a wing, open your eyes and look straight ahead and angle the brush toward the tail of your eyebrow and extend the color out slightly. Try to put the black shade in the middle of the blue and pink to make a clear distinction between the 2 colors.
Step 11: After curling your lashes, apply a coat of black mascara to your top and bottom lashes (I recommend the Diorshow Mascara in Black).
Step 12: Finally, gently spray your face with setting spray so your look lasts all day!(I love the Morphe Prep and Set Continuous Setting Mist).
