I don’t know about you, but I have just about seen every movie under the sun during this quarantine so I thought I would share my favorite ones below! These films range from uplifting films to dramatic documentaries that will suck you in. In the beginning days of quarantine, I was almost happy to have a lot of time to just relax and watch movies, but after a while you just can’t stare at a screen any longer. Therefore, I encourage you all to get outside when it is nice out and take a walk or workout while still giving yourself that time to just kick back and watch a movie with your family!
The Great Gatsby
This movie is one of my favorites by far! Not only do I love Leonardo Dicaprio, but I love this story. I read the book in school last year and I must say the book and the movie are somewhat different in terms of plot, but both tell such an amazing story. I won’t spoil anything for those of you who haven’t seen the film, but I highly recommend this movie to anyone who is looking for a really good old fashioned love story, with a bit of a twist at the end!
Crazy, Stupid, Love
This is one of my all time favorite movies because it has such an amazing cast and the first time I saw it I laughed and cried! This is always my go-to film and I have seen it probably 5 times and could see it another 500 times. It is a great movie to watch anytime with friends, siblings, family, etc. and it always picks up my mood!
What to Expect When You’re Expecting
When I saw this movie for the first time I laughed the entire time! It is definitely an uplifting film and it so fun to watch with your friends. My friends and I have been sharing our screens on zoom while someone plays the movie on their computer, which almost feels like we are all watching together in one house. I highly recommend this as it also has a great cast and never has a dull moment!
Three Identical Strangers
This movie absolutely blew my mind! I love documentaries and true stories and the story behind these three brothers is crazy and extremely intriguing. This movie has some sad elements, but I would recommend to anyone looking to sink their teeth into something during their quarantine.
Molly’s Game
My sister made me watch this movie with her early on in our quarantine journey and I’m so happy she did! This movie is a true story and has so much drama it is hard to believe it actually happened to someone. After my sister and I watched it together we spent at least an hour researching the story and I told everyone I knew that they had to watch this movie!
Shutter Island
This movie is unlike any other. The acting is incredible. The story is crazy and the emotions you feel are a rollercoaster ride. After I watched this movie I thought about it for at least another 3 days, which just goes to show how wild it is! This movie will have your brain in shambles, but it is one of my favorites to this day and will definitely give you something to talk about during this time at home.
Life Itself
I won’t lie this movie is extremely sad. It’s one of those movies that makes you feel every sad emotion, but I love the way in which the movie is told through 4 different lenses. I would recommend this movie, but if you chose to watch it I would definitely get my tissues ready.
Jumanji: Welcome to The Jungle
This is one of the funniest movies I have ever seen. I feel like these days comedy in movies is so cheesy and tries way too hard to appeal to my generation and it never works out, but I felt like this movie was genuinely funny and I definitely left the theater smiling. I would definitely recommend this movie right now because it is really easy to get in low spirits, but if you watch this it will lift them right back up.
Step Brothers
It took me so long to finally watch this movie because every time I saw the trailer I just got the feeling that it was not my kind of humor. But, when I finally sat down to watch this film I could not stop laughing and I actually began to understand the hundreds of references my friends make about this movie!
The Devil Wears Prada
This is a movie I could watch over and over again. I never get tired of the plot and I love fashion so it is right up your alley if you are interested in it as well. I consider this film to be a classic at this point and it was filled with comedy and drama!
Lady Bird
I recently saw this movie for the first time and I really liked it. I saw it with my mom, which I thought was fitting because it’s centered around the relationship between a mother and her daughter in her high school years before college, like me. I thought the acting was amazing and would highly recommend this film!
Beautiful Boy
As a huge Steve Carell and Timothee Chalamet fan I really loved this film. Not only was the acting outstanding, but the fact that this movie is a true story was so touching and really interesting to see. I cried nearly the whole movie, but did not leave the theater in tears so I ended up enjoying it. I would recommend watching this film with someone and a lot of tissues!
